Texas Company Launches Wind Industry Worker Training Site in Denver

Wind Industry workers are likely to be in high demand in the coming years, and Colorado could be a significant training site for an industry looking to satisfy that demand. Workrise, a workforce management firm, recently opened a 56,000-square-foot facility in Broomfield to train competent wind employees. The organisation, which is based in Austin, Texas, intends to expand the training to include solar energy and other skills, which is one of the reasons for the size of the facility.

Workrise, originally known as RigUp, began in the oil and gas industry and recognised a potential to grow into wind and solar, according to Elliott. The seven-year-old firm also offers defence and construction industry training and job placement. Leslie Elliott, the managing director of the company’s energy verticals, said, “The core mission of the company has always been about the skilled worker, empowering the skilled worker.”

Workrise sees renewable energy as a way to not just assist people upgrade their skills and grow in their professions, but also as a way to help cover “a major skilled trades shortage coming in the United States,” according to Elliott. According to a recent research by the American Clean Power Association, the shift to more renewable energy, as well as attempts to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions to mitigate the effects of climate change, is boosting demand for qualified professionals.

According to the analysis, the Wind Industry has the most job growth potential, with onshore and offshore wind farms estimated to create 2.5 million to 3 million job-years over the next decade.
