Tulsa-based Williams reported on Thursday that its Transco interstate pipeline, which serves natural gas distribution firms, electric power producers, LNG (liquefied natural gas) exporters, and other clients along the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf Coast, recently transported a record volume of natural gas.
On Jan. 3, Transco, the country’s largest natural gas transmission system, supplied 17.15 million dekatherms (MMdt), surpassing the previous high of 16.9 (MMdt) set on February 20. While harsh winter weather normally corresponds with peak-day deliveries, the new record was set as a result of Transco continuing expansions to meet the expanding demand for natural gas in the United States.
“I’d like to congratulate our staff for their commitment to safe and efficient project execution while also keeping our operations operating smoothly so that Williams can be there for our customers as they strive to provide clean, cheap, and dependable natural gas to them.”Williams maintains and owns more than 30,000 miles of pipelines across the United States, handling over 30% of the natural gas used for clean-power generation, industrial, and heating purposes every day.
